TDP for School of Computing
TDP (Computing) -- A New Programme
TDP (Computing) is a new and exciting programme for top students
in the School of Computing. The programme was formulated in 1998/99 when
the School of Computing was formed.
The inaugural batch of TDP (Computing) students
was selected betwen Dec 98 and Feb 99.
This first batch consists of about 11 Year 2 students and 15 Year 1
students.
A second selection was recently held for incoming students
and 10 new TDP students were selected.
The TDP (Computing) students have their own workplan and some
parts of these can be found
here.
Admission to TDP (Computing)
General admission criteria to the TDP are found
here.
For the School of Computing, there will be two selection rounds --
usually done around July and December.
Outstanding students will be invited to apply to the TDP.
TDP Students take CS1101S
TDP freshman students will take CS1101S (instead of CS1101).
This is a more challenging and stimulating version of the introductory
programming course CS1101. TDP students will also be grouped together
for CS1101S tutorials and recitation.
This also provides an excellent opportunity for TDP students to
be together and to build rapport and bonding, especially important
during the first semester.
TDP Global Activities
An important part of the TDP programme is the interaction with people.
To this end, TDP Global Programme was started and
TDP students will participate in these activities
(also called TDP Global activities).
An old (dated: Feb 99) version of the TDP Global Activities can be found
here.
TDP Global activites involve all faculties and is a perfect opportunity
for TDP students from various faculties to interact with each other.
TDP students can register for these activities
online here.
