  • split lecture and tutorial timings

  • More real-world examples and how the theories would translate into the real world.
  • Additionally, answers for the lecture notes can only be accessed if we take them down on the spot or if we rewatch the lecture, but it would better if there was a full version of the lecture slides made available.
  • Maybe can allow cheatsheets for exams instead of purely closed book.
  • NA
  • Some parts can be explained more slowly (although it may seem easy) as it may take more time to digest and understand.
  • The 3 hour-long lecture and tutorial section are a bit too long and it is difficult to absorb all the information in 1 sitting.
  • nil
  • na
  • Not much considering how annoyingly difficult the subject is, understandable that not all concepts could be understoond in the first go Really need 2 breaks (1h mark and lect/tut mark at 2h) - my brain is often fried by the end of the lecture segment
  • -
  • Some topics are a little more challenging, could go a little slower. Code blocks can be left in the slides to facilitate revision, instead of the slide being left blank
  • The explanations of each concept is great, however sometimes, i find myself getting lost during the transition from concept to concept. The purpose of having each concept was not emphasized on until we reach the end when an example is given then everything makes more sense in practice. It could also just be that I am weak in the concepts. Prof Stanley is a great prof

  • - Consistently check if we are able to understand concepts and ensure to always link back to previous taught materials in order for us to easily follow through .
  • Interesting and useful introduction to time series.
  • Useful concepts in time series, with good liinkage between the theoretical part and coding part for time series.
  • Applicable knowledge to financial markets, Great in-depth explanation on foundational concepts
  • concepts are well delivered start from something easier before scaling to a harder question
  • Very informative on how to use TS
  • content is clear
  • Very well planned out and good content
  • relevant
  • Professor and TA are responsive.
  • Caring professor who answers all questions and do not condescend incorrect answers from students.
  • It helps me develop a proper understanding.
  • Highly applicable to the financial industry and also covers some material on HFT as a bonus for those who are interested.
  • It was interesting to understand all the various ways to model time series
  • It is very detailed and gives me and a better understanding of time series.
  • math was fun, weekly quizzes helped revision
  • Content is generally well taught and I can see it being pretty useful in the future One of the better taught (if not best) taught BT4k module
  • Intuition and theories of time series seemed to be explored into too much depth at the expense of real-life and financial applications.
  • Workload is quite heavy with homework due every other week and a quiz every week.
  • Constant workload but better than previous years so still grateful for the change that the professor made
  • Continuous assessments make the module quite demanding.
  • workload is quite high w quizzes and homework because content is q hard
  • NA
  • The format of the slides
  • The questions in the homework require extra self-learning. Some concepts are not clearly covered in the lecture.
  • Heavy maths
  • It can get quite stressful, with the weekly quizzes and multiple assignments.
  • I am not sure how this would be used/applied in a working scenario. Also, sometimes, the fill-in-the-blank during lecture could be missed or copied wrongly leading to incorrect knowledge would be nice if full slides were released.
  • It is challenging and requires 100% concentration each lecture
  • math was hard, weekly quizzes were slightly stressful
  • Feedback for assignments and nano quizzes could be a little more detailed as they are pretty vague Not a fan of having homework submission on Week 13 when there's all sorts of project deadlines by then, would be nice to extend it into reading week or at least submit by sunday..?
  • Easy to follow and able express difficult explanation into simpler context without losing the context clarity

  • "I think that he's one of the rare (or perhaps the only) prof in BT modules that is so genuine and passionate in teaching. His content is not only fluid and logical in structure but was also extremely well prepared and easily understood (the same can't be said about BT profs from other modules).
  • I really appreciated how Prof Stanley made the effort to explain the simplest of equations and how they were derived in an intuitive manner as it greatly helped me in my understanding of the content. I also appreciate his unwavering enthusiasm despite the lack of responses at time (guilty of it).
  • Overall I have nothing but nice things to say about this module thus far. It is very well organized in terms of structure (asking questions on piazza, flow of content, scheduling) , was reasonably paced and has a quick response time by the teaching team in terms of qna, homework and quiz scores. Hope that this will continue for the remaining half of the semester and that prof Stanley continues to keep this up for students in the future "
  • His attempts to provide explanations are very good, and please continue to explain it step-by-step without skipping steps. Thank you!
  • Just thought that lecture slides should be filled up? I usually spend too much time copying for slides with too much blanks and I lose concentration for a few portions of the lecture.
  • He is clear with the explanation and patient with everyone and their questions.
  • Lecturer is patient in explaining all of the complex terms clearly, making the content more easily digestible.
  • nope
  • Thank you for the detailed breakdown of the content! Teaching pace is just right as well :)
  • "Sometimes math proofing could be a bit difficult, the example/practice given helps me to understand better. Having more examples would be nice.
  • Also, sometimes, it's not very obvious if some content is missing from the slides, would be nice if the color of text we need to fill up be different."
  • NA
  • Pls allow calculator
  • maybe allow the use of a calculator during exam :')

  • It would be better if there were real life applications being taught, such as lstm time series forecasting. It seems that there is only the mathematics and theory being taught so far and I find it hard to apply this knowledge to real life scenarios.

  • Could we be allowed to use a calculator during the examinations?
  • The questions in the lecture notes are useful as they help to reinforce the concepts.
  • Attempts to explain the course content step-by-step are very appreciated, please continue to do so. Thank you!
  • nope
  • No suggestions. The content is pretty hard but it seems useful and very interesting.
  • "prof you wrote the TA names wrongly??
  • content is pretty mathematically heavy but conceptually its okay, the manual calculations can get mechanically tedious"
  • I would appreciate if real world financial data could be used as examples in some of the lecture content.
  • Well-structured content with sufficient guidance!
  • Some quizzes are a little too demanding for 10 minutes, especially those that involve sketching =(
  • I would like to see how it relates in a business setting
