  • Explains concepts really well and passionate about teaching.
  • Good grasp of concepts, very good teacher
  • Interesting teaching style.
  • Clear
  • Very clear teacher
  • good at keeping students engaged during lectures
  • Less workload please
  • More group members to do projects!
  • The project is crazy.
  • The explanation for some concepts could be further improved, more guidance might be helpful as well.
  • more concrete examples
  • The workload can be lighter. This is the heaviest module I took for this semester.
  • Workload too heavy, notes insufficiently detailed
  • More numerical examples.
  • Workload is way too heavy, project was really difficult.
  • not sure, the class is too hard
  • It is extremely hard to follow his lessons as a year 2 student. It is extremely tough and hard. I was not aware that this module is stats heavy. Too bad cannot drop already.
  • Less proofs/mathematics
  • Go a little bit slower during lectures
  • Too much workload
  • Give more examples
  • Dumb the content down a little, take it slow. Some concepts are hard to grasp and it's really hard to go through a module that has
  • 100% equations and symbols.
  • Notes use too much notation. It is very difficult to follow. Often, I only understand after refering to external resources extentsively.
  • Content is also insufficient to do the project, project takes way too much time for 20%, should reduce scope or increase its weightage. Explain content broadly eg overview, before going deep into the math.
  • More practice questions to get some practice.
  • I think quizzes are quite useful to revise and pace our study! I hope the slides could be more colorful and more consistent math symbols.
  • Reduce course contents. Too much math/stats which is really makes students stress over understanding the concepts. Concepts are slightly abstract, making it hard to comprehend when doing the homeworks
  • N.A
  • Maybe having a better gauge of student's learning abilities. While it is difficult, it sure is enriching and fulfilling at the end of the semester.
  • Maybe can reduce the workload if possible
  • just release the answers to lecture notes. it's still hard to understand without somebody telling me what it is that is going on. at least release it right before recess week.
  • Sometimes he can go a little too fast. It is hard to keep up sometimes
  • Provide more avenues to assist weaker students
  • Try to showcase the intuition of concepts so that we can relate the details to why we learn the concepts, how they are usable or related to other concepts.
  • the things we learn are at the forefront e.g. how to actually implement HMM as many things online are on the high level, would really help if more application details are provided eg how to actually implement ACE on real cases
  • Sir, I don't think you are aware but your module takes up about half my week in terms of workload. It is just too much! Think can cut it by HALF.
  • Too much workload.
  • Lesser work
  • Too much workload
  • reduce workload please.
  • Workload was rather heavy. Felt that the final project should not be code–based as we were not specifically taught how to code what we learnt.
  • Too much workload
  • workload was absurd. especially the project.
  • The workload can be very heavy (even though they are for a good purpose), and it can feel that we do not have a complete understanding of certain concepts at times.
  • it's technically very challenging. too much math!!!!!
  • the things we learn are at the forefront e.g. how to actually implement HMM, would really help if more application details are provided eg how to actually implement ACE on real cases
  • too much proving!!
  • nil
  • Too many content, too much homework, project is too difficult, too much quizzes
  • Too much content that is hard to grasp
  • The workload is too high.....
  • Too much work load
  • The project is too overwhelming. Too much stuff and coding to do while still need to cope with homework assignments.
  • Super tough. Workload too heavy. Lecture notes is very generic (formula & concept) but homeworks & project requires very specific understanding that wasnt emphasised/elaborated on. This mod is like a bullet train, continuously moving until it reaches its destination (end of week 13). Never felt this exhausted taking a mod before. Goodjob.
  • No webcast. Please webcast the course content esp bc lecture continues during tutorial + the content is quite hard to grasp Workload is a bit heavy.
  • Time commitment too high. Too many deliverables
  • Workload is very heavy. Too many homework assignments and the project was really really hard.
  • everything was so hard
  • Content is challenging!
  • Too hard.
  • Hard to grasp theory / math
  • too much coding, not very friendly to non cs students
  • Too much workload
  • Very theoretical. Should have more mathematical questions in exam.
  • The amount of technicality, mathematics and jizz. Some people just aren't cut out for that.
  • Too much notation, project too time-consuming and ambiguous in terms of how to do it.
  • The difficulty of the assignments. Lack of practice to reinforce concepts
  • pain
  • Coding questions and projects were pretty difficult and needed a lot of time to complete.
  • Too heavy on math/stats contents.
  • Concepts were abstract to understand and apply
  • Group project was really very difficult and has a extremely heavy workload
  • N.A.
  • Nothing.
  • Workload too heavy
  • frustratingly hard to self-study
  • Work load very heavy.
  • Able to learn a lot of useful techniques, very relevant and applicable.
  • Novel Concepts
  • Learned in great depth about very relevant probabilistic models
  • Honestly, I really like the assignments as I feel that they really help me a lot. Even though they can be challenging at times, they are often doable. The contents of the lecture can be quite interesting from time to time as well.
  • Useful
  • Everything
  • Learned alot
  • The breadth of concepts
  • It is technically challenging and always prob me to think further.
  • Applications to the theory are brought up
  • Can learn alot of new indepth content bout the usual techniques & methods we used in our projects & for any statistical analyses.
  • Interesting exposure
  • Interesting content that is applicable to real life.
  • It's theoretically challenging and useful for when we graduate and go out to the industry.
  • Learnt a lot a new and significant things and their real world applications
  • The topics seem useful
  • What he taught is really useful. Would be good to have a part 2 to cover more content!
  • It is very interesting, applicable, and connected between lectures
  • Interesting, challenging
  • the mathematics involved
  • Very intellectually challenging
  • Learning complicated stuff but simplified by prof.
  • It is intellectually challenging
  • Interesting to a certain extent, many concepts unheard of exposed and learnt, programming assignments can SOMETIMES be fun.
  • Learnt a lot.
  • The mathematical rigor and scope
  • It provided the required statistical knowledge required for the workforce.
  • cool concepts
  • Difficult and challenging contents that enhance our thinking
  • Nil
  • Solid theoretical foundations. Well structured learning path and solid practices of the model.
  • This modules privi
  • Covered a wide range of things. Applicability and also technical knowledge applied
  • Challenging but very useful from a technical perspective. I wished I had more modules in NUS with the rigour of this curriculum with Stanley's level of teaching.
  • It's useful
  • some of it makes a lot of sense
  • Learnt alot of new things
