I am a professor and Deputy Head (Research and Graduate Matters) at the Department of Computer Science, National University of Singapore (NUS). I obtained a PhD in Computer Science from the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2008. Before joining NUS in 2018, I was an associate professor at the Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.

I am an IEEE Fellow and ACM Distinguished Member. I received the 2024 ACM SIGMOD Test-of-Time Award, the 2022 ACM SIGMOD Research Highlight Award, the VLDB 2021 Best Research Paper Award, the IEEE S&P 2026 Distinguished Paper Award, the ACM SIGKDD 2026 Best Student Paper Award, and the ACM PODS 2026 Best Newcomer Award. I am a trustee of the VLDB Endowment (2022-present).
