Governance of consumer interests

In May 2005, following discussions in Parliament, a working group was formed to consider legislation to protect buyers of timeshares and club memberships and alternative investments. The members of the working group are

  • Seah Choon Seng, Executive Director, CASE
  • Sin Boon Ann, MP
  • Hans Tjio, Associate Professor, NUS Faculty of Law
  • Yeo Guat Kwang, MP, and
  • Ivan Png, NMP and Professor, NUS Business School and School of Computing.

The working group has held meetings with MAS and MTI, based on which it has proposed to amend the CPFTA to protect buyers of timeshares and club memberships and alternative investments. The working group has prepared a draft amendment to the CPFTA and seeks public comment. Kindly send your comments to rachel@case.org.sg by 28 February 2006.
