Name: Wang Hanxing
Running for: President

Hi, my name is Wang Hanxing and I am running for President with a clear and positive plan to unite all the SoC people as One. I will fulfill my role as President to forge an impregnable force within my team. I am a fun-loving and people-oriented person, with great enthusiasm about life.

Uniting the SoC people has always been a dream I want to accomplish. If I am elected as President, I will work on introducing more bonding events like car wash projects, mass bbq sessions and visiting the old folks homes which can also help students earn CCA points to stay on campus.

For the next 3 months, I also aim to work on the distribution of lockers to every SoC student, Exams Welfare Pack and to recover the Clubs website.

Being the President of a club is a challenging job and I am most willing to take up this challenge. I feel that I am the best and most qualified person for this position and I am prepared to assume this awesome responsibility. If I am elected as President, I will give my utmost effort to maintain and shape the club as a whole.

Leadership to me is not about making decisions, but it is about being responsible, listening, understanding everyones needs and welcoming input. As many hands build a house, so many hearts make a school. I will gladly take in any feedback that SoC students may have to improve the homely feeling of our university. I will be guided by principles and convictions that will not change. This position means a lot to me and I sincerely hope you can give me the opportunity to lead and serve the school body.

Please vote for me. Thank you.

Name: Lee Chee Full
Running for: President

Hi~ I am (Lee) Chee Full but most SoCians call me Chef. I'm a Year 2 Computer Engineering student. You might remember me as the Finance Director from Computing Club (CompClub), either that, or the barrage of email sent by me last academic year. =)

I have dedicated much of my time to CompClub's events as the Chairman for the Chinese New Year Celebration, Organiser for the Peer Tutoring Program, Director cum Custodian for Student Lounge Project, Operations Director for Cyber Gaming Festival 2008, Support Manager for Freshman Orientation Camp and Vice-Chairman cum Treasurer for Freshman Orientation Week.

This year will be no different I assure you. I would still like to do what I can and commit myself fully for SoC. My focus this year will be to expand our club activities to reach out to more SoCians, especially international students, and to nurture our budding freshies so they too, will feel an attachment to SoC and then eventually a drive to what is more than necessary to make SoC a better place.

Lastly, I will be representing your interest as they are my own. I believe I am accessible and am an individual that understands that what activities should CompClub run will be those that you want. Sports or Academic, I have you covered.

Ultimately, as the president, I also present to you a team, if you will, that consists of members that have and are contributing to SoC in many than one ways in FOP or another. Choosing me means an immediate get-go working committee with an experienced leader at the helm.

Support my committee and me for a future SoC that is lively and inclusive!

Name: Tan Wen Jie
Running for: Vice-President (External)

Let me introduce myself, I am Wen Jie. I am tall and big size guy, I can be quite easily spotted amongst the crowd. Now I am on my second year of studies, majoring in IS. During Freshmen Orientation Projects 2008, I get to know people like Benedict, Shao Chong, Chee Full who are in the outgoing 10th management committee. They are the people who run the Club with passion, and I do have this passion to help in shaping NUS Students Computing Club to a next new level. As a candidate for the post of EVP, one of my main objectives is to bring the Club closer to all SoC students. I hope to demonstrate to students of SoC that the Club is vibrant and full of life, which is being reflected in our Fabric of SoC hanging at COM1 lobby. Furthermore, if I am the elected as EVP, I will be leading the FOP team. My objectives are not only to let future freshmen have a wonderful freshmen experience, but also to let them feel that they are a part of the NUS Students Computing Club and being proud to be SoCians.

Name: Chua Lu Sien
Running for: Vice-President (Internal)

Good day everyone, I am known as Chua in SoC. Currently a Year II majoring in Information Systems. I chaired the Freshmen Orientation Week (FoW) organizing committee for 2008, and hope to be part of the action once more, this time by election to position of Internal Vice-President (IVP).

You could say I was the reluctant freshman a year ago when I was called up to help out in freshmen orientation. After all, academic workload is always a priority to any of you intending to commit to co-curricular activities, and hence it seems logical to downplay your role in them. But the months of work in handling a project can be quite an experience. For my committee, there were challenges such as milestone management, people management, program design, resource allocation and many others. It was exhausting, but not without that tinge of satisfaction. Thru this, I believe it has equipped me with relevant knowledge to ready myself for IVP duties.

There are two main directions I will want to look into. First is for the incoming committee to further its interactions with the students, to gather more on-the-ground feedback. The management committee should mould itself as a Big Brother of SoC students, helping to create greater exchange of ideas that can help us decide what students want.

Second is to create opportunities for value-adding our student life. That will take the form of encouraging student enrolment in certification courses by lobbying for more subsidies, or even just a simple basketball or potluck session in SoC. We have a good central meeting point at SR1, and if we can rethink the way we interact day-to-day, we can aim to create a livelier atmosphere for some time to come.

Once again, hope to have your support.

Hong Jingqing
Running for: Vice-President (Internal)

Hello, everyone! I am Jingqing, a Computing Year 1 student.

The ultimate reason for me to become a part of the NUS Students Computing Club is really to create an enthusiastic, vibrant, dynamic and happy community for all of us. If I am elected, during my Term of Office, I hope to enhance the cohesiveness of our community, strengthen the alumni network and to enhance the overall welfare of SoC students and to create a vibrant and sporty atmosphere for all of us. I am confident that I can achieve these goals with my visions, plans and co-operation from my colleagues in Computing Club. Furthermore, I believe that together with the team, nothing will be far away from reach.

Vote for me and lets all be parts of the revolution named 11th NUS Students Computing Club Management Committee!

Name: Wint Mon Oo (Mitzi)
Running for: Honorary General Secretary

Hello!

I am Mitzi, a newbee in SoC. Of course, since I am a freshman, you all may not know me yet. Just remember me as the skinniest girl with the longest hair amongst the nominees. Here's a bit more about me... I am from Myanmar; have been in Singapore for nearly five years; like to have big dreams and hate chocolate. =)

I served my JC as a Student Councilor: as Welfare Secretary and Public Relations Officer, and the feeling of accomplishment during the council term was really memorable. Yet when I first stepped onto NUS ground, I told myself "No more committee stuff! Been there, done that!" That notion lasted only until I saw the real action of the Management Committee during Freshmen Orientation. Now, here I am... imploring you all for votes!

I believe that my meticulousness and organisational skills would facilitate my role as Honorary General Secretary - if I get elected, of course. I wish to contribute the event management and leadership skills I have acquired during my council term. What's more, I hope that having people from very different backgrounds (LIKE ME!) in the committee would add to the versatility of the committee - which means, you SoCians would enjoy more variety when it comes to events. All in all, I promise I would put in my best effort for your welfare and enjoyment in our very own Soc!

Hmm... what else? Oh ya! VOTE FOR ME!!! This is Mitzi - the skinny girl with long hair :)

Name: Low Eng Chye
Running for: Honorary General Secretary

[Hi, my name is Eng Chye and i'm running for the post of Honourary General Secretary.

I was previously from SP and I studied Engineering. I registered in SoC because of my interest in Computing. Before school started, i wanted to get to know more people and thus joined FOC. FOC left such an impression on me that i signed up for FOW and R&F. I wanted to know more about how FOP was run and thus became interested in joining the Management Committee. The post of Honourary Secretary General was introduced to me by my seniors and i found that it suited my nature and personality. Having dedicated myself to the task, i believe that i can fulfil my potential in the Management Committee. So if you want to know more about what i can do for you and the Club, VOTE FOR ME!

Name: Goh Chong Sheng
Running for: Communication Director

First of all, a bit of introduction of myself, I am currently a publication and publicity sub-committee member of comp club and have served the student populace for a year.

This is purely out of my support and feelings for this faculty which I was enrolled in. Personally my interests and future job aim is in the gaming industry sector. Being such a person, having such commitments actually serve no real advantage to my resume but rather this is purely out of support for my fellow students running and for the student populace.

Since my first year in SoC, Ifve been helping out in various events. Of which include the Chinese New Year get together where people of various nationalities got together to celebrate this event with members of our faculty. Another major event would be the freshmen orientation project which included making of the float and holding a camp and orientation week for our freshmen. To those who went for those events, vote me if you enjoyed them. To those who haven't, vote me so you can have a chance enjoy these experiences in the future. =p

Name: Edoo Bibi Taskeen
Running for: Welfare Director And Non-Constitutional Post

Why should you vote for me as Welfare Director? Personality-wise I have strong principles, and I always do my best to complete any work that I have started. I also have experience (loads of it!) in the Welfare committee and the Computing Club. I was part of the Welfare subcomm in my first year and I was Welfare Director in my second year. I am quite proud to say that all Welfare events have run pretty smoothly this past year, and we have implemented new ways of doing things, which are giving satisfactory results.

Why Welfare again? I did consider other options, but Welfare is what suits me best. There are many areas that I want to improve, and I really want to do something for the students. I also want to implement a feedback system from students on various issues around school. It is not an easy goal, but I am prepared to work hard for it.

My personality, my experience and my vision make me a worthy candidate for Welfare Director. So, vote for me!

Name: Ho Kok Wei Daniel
Running for: Welfare Director, Communicatios Director And Non-Constitutional Post

Hi, I am Daniel Ho, a freshman of the current intake year. I will be campaigning for the position of Welfare director. I was a previous student of Tampines Junior College and have been recognized in my IT/AVA for my contributions both internally and externally. Therefore I am keen on brining forward of what contributions of what I have done previously and put even more effort into it.

The reason why I chose the Welfare Director post is because I wish to serve the entire faculty club in a more direct form. I will aim to provide and fulfill everyone with their requests and needs in the coming year. After my conversation and info hunting from the seniors, I do already have some plans in mind for the current year. Firstly, I do wish to resolve the issues of lockers distribution. Thereafter, I would like to provide a better platform for each individual to voice out their needs which I see that is lacking in SoC. Of course there are more things that I wish to accomplish in the current year.

I have strong enthusiasm for serving the club and I am purely doing this for the SoC community. I dare say that I am not doing this for any personal gains as I do not require a hostel or a better CV.

Let my actions do the talking. Vote for me.

Name: Shahanah Joomun
Running for: Finance Director And Non-Constitutional Post

I have been an active member in Computing club ever since I stepped into SoC. I joined as subcomm member when I was a freshie and as Assistant Welfare Director the year after. I first felt a strong sense of belonging to SoC when I participated in my freshmen orientation week. Since then, I decided to work towards building that same feeling among all Socians. I chose to run for the position of FD because I am confident of possessing the required qualities to enable me to do justice to the position. From my experience as MC member in different clubs, I have been able to develop my organization, planning as well as cash management skills. Also, my presence in previous meetings as member of the 10th MC of Computing Club has allowed me to understand the intricacies involved in the job of FD. I am aware of the financial constraints we have had in the past and will therefore be prepared to provide solutions to such contingencies. As Finance Director, I plan to give the opportunity to non MC members also to organize activities for the welfare of the SoC community by trying my level best to provide them with the required funding.

Running for: Non-Constitutional Post

Hi, I'm Ruchi Bajoria and I am an year 2 SoC student. I was in the ALC sub-committee of comp club last year and this time I'm running for the post of the Publications Director. Writing is my hobby and so I want to make a contribution to my faculty by offering it what I am good at. Of course I cannot achieve this unless I have the support and encouragement of my fellow SoCians i.e. you guys :)

I am sure most of you have seen the yearbook that is published by the club annually and would agree with me that there is a huge scope for improvement in it. This is where I come in. I wish to work on the layout and the content of the chronicle and also ensure that every student in Soc is provided with a copy. I have also thought of other ideas for publicizing the comp club activities which include starting a blog for the club so that we can also have student feedback.

Thanks for reading the above and please do vote for me. :)

Name: Prahnananda Kusuma
Running for: Non-Constitutional Post

I came from Indonesia to pursue my bachelor degree here at NUS. I believe SoC can give me the best thing. I have an ambition to help our computing club. I am probably quiet inexperience as a leader, but I know the computing club is a team build by the committees and the members. Every member has a role in the team, and I will surely be able to lead the team.

I will now share a little about my strong points, which I believe that have something to do as a leader. First, I am a listener. Although I probably not a really good to give suggestions, but I will receive all comments on me. Of course I will not only listen, but I will try to do the best to fulfill everyone demand. Second, I always try to initiate when there is an event. I will not wait for others if I can do it immediately. Last, but not least, I will never give up on something our team has initiated. I know that there is nothing impossible. We only need to keep struggling for it, and I am sure that we will have an unexpected good result.

Name: Ramasubramanian Sivasankar
Running for: Non-Constitutional Post

The Computing Club is one of the youngest and most dynamic clubs in NUS. It is therefore quintessential that the Executive Committee and other Committee members be equally dynamic and forward looking.

I am a positive person and see extraordinary potential in the Computing Club; I feel if given the opportunity I would be able to contribute to Comp Clubs growth. As for my talents and skills, I am a good Marketer and have been told that I possess the gift of the gab. I am an above average writer and have some skill as an orator. Technically speaking, I am well versed in Web Technologies and certain aspects of GUI development. But above all I have the passion and commitment that every club is looking for. In fact, I am not joining the Club for CCA points (My accommodation is guaranteed through other channels). I want to join the Computing Club solely to be able to contribute to the exponential growth of SoCs prowess on the world stage.

In conclusion, all I can promise is uncompromising diligence and sincerity to the Club and its activities. If you feel convinced that I can do some good for the Club, please vote for me.

Thank You
