FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)
1) How much is the programme fee? 

As the NGNE programme is classified as Non-Exchange Programme, you are required to pay the tuition fees as well as the Miscellaneous Student Fees. You may refer to this page for the actual rates.

2) How much is the cost of living in Singapore? 
 
To assist you in your financial planning, the NUS Office of Admissions has provided a table of estimated monthly expenditure for your reference. Please note that the costs have been derived based on a conservative estimate. The actual amount could be higher or lower depending on your expenditure and lifestyle patterns.

3) I would like to apply for on-campus accommodation. May I know how much does on-campus accommodation cost and how do I apply for it? 
 
NUS provides various types of accommodation including Halls of Residence, Colleges and Student Residences. With a vast variety of hostel options available in NUS, interested students may apply for on-campus accommodation (subject to availability) to enjoy a conducive living and learning environment. 4) The official application requires us to submit a documentary proof of financial support in English. What does this refer to? What document can I submit as financial proof? 
 
You may submit a bank statement (original, certified true copy or electronically generated statements will be accepted) OR a certificate of deposit (Chinese: 存款证明) in English issued by the bank as a proof that you (or your parent) have the stated amount in the bank account. If you are not the account holder indicated in the bank statement, attach another document stating your relationship with the account holder. 
 
The financial proof should certify your financial ability to make payment for the Miscellaneous Student Fees (MSFs) and tuition fees for at least 3 modules if you are studying in NUS for one semester. If you are studying in NUS for two semesters, the financial proof should certify your financial ability to make payment for the Miscellaneous Student Fees (MSFs) and tuition fees for at least 6 modules.

5) I do not have a valid passport at the point of application. What should I do? 
 
All applicants will be asked to provide identification when you are registering for a new account in the online application portal. 
 
If your passport has expired and you are in the process of getting a new passport, you may provide your old passport number for the time being:  
 
a. Under National ID Type, choose “Passport No”. 
b. Under National ID, enter the last 4 characters of your old passport number.  
c. For submission of soft copy documents, upload a scan copy of your old passport and indicate in the scan copy that your passport is pending renewal.  
d. As soon as you have obtained your new passport, email a scan copy of it to nghelp@nus.edu.sg quoting your application number with a brief explanation.  
e. You should provide your new passport as soon as possible to avoid disruption in your Student’s Pass application. 
 
If you do not have a passport at all and are in the midst of applying for one at the time of application, you may provide your national ID number for the time being:  
 
a. Under National ID Type, choose “Passport No”.  
b. Under National ID, enter the last 4 characters of your national ID number.  
c. For submission of soft copy documents, upload a scan copy of your national ID card and indicate in the scan copy that you are still applying for a passport.

6) I am interested in applying for the Master of Computing (MComp) programme. As an NGNE student, do I need to submit MComp application? Will I be automatically considered for the MComp programme without submitting the MComp application? 

You are required to submit MComp application if you are interested to apply, just like all other MComp applicants, regardless of whether you have joined the NGNE programme. You will not be automatically considered for the MComp programme if you did not submit an application.
