This course is part of the (SCTP) NUS Data Engineering Programme. Applicants are required to register for all SCTP courses.

Course Overview

This one-day course provides a comprehensive introduction to data architecture, modelling, and cloud computing foundations. Participants will understand and evaluate the key principles of data architecture and their role in designing modern, scalable data solutions. The course also covers essential data modelling techniques, including the creation of conceptual, logical, and physical data models, as well as Entity-Relationship (ER) models. Additionally, participants will explore the fundamentals of cloud computing and learn how to apply these concepts to build efficient and scalable data architectures.

Course Objectives

At the end of the course, participants will be able to:

Acquire a foundational understanding of the key principles of data architecture and their role in designing modern data solutions
Develop skills in data modelling techniques to effectively structure data for various use cases
Design and differentiate between conceptual, logical, and physical data models, including the creation of Entity-Relationship (ER) models
Understand the fundamentals of cloud computing and its application in building scalable and efficient data architectures
