This course is part of the (SCTP) NUS Data Engineering Programme. Applicants are required to register for all SCTP courses.

Course Overview

This one-day course equips participants with the essential knowledge and skills for processing, managing, and scaling modern data pipelines. Participants will gain a strong understanding of big data processing tools like Apache Hadoop, Spark, and Amazon Elastic MapReduce (EMR), and learn how to perform Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) operations.

The course also covers best practices for securing data pipelines to ensure data integrity, confidentiality, and compliance. Additionally, participants will explore techniques for scaling data pipelines to handle large volumes of data efficiently and delve into stream and IoT data processing for real-time data ingestion and analysis.

Course Objectives

At the end of the course, participants will be able to:

Gain a practical understanding of processing big data using tools like Apache Hadoop, Spark, and Amazon EMR
Develop hands-on skills in performing ETL operations on datasets using AWS Glue
Learn best practices for securing data pipelines to ensure data integrity, confidentiality, and compliance
Understand techniques for scaling data pipelines to handle large volumes of data efficiently
Explore stream and IoT data processing to manage real-time data ingestion and analysis
