This course is part of the (SCTP) NUS Data Engineering Programme. Applicants are required to register for all SCTP courses.

Course Overview

This one-day course equips participants with the essential knowledge and skills for understanding data storage concepts, building Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) pipelines, and exploring modern data architectures. Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of data storage principles and learn how to manage data effectively. The course also provides hands-on experience in storing and analysing data, including techniques for query optimisation and performance tuning. Through practical exercises, participants will build and automate end-to-end ETL pipelines using Python, enabling efficient data extraction, transformation, and loading processes.

Course Objectives

At the end of the course, participants will be able to:

Gain a comprehensive understanding of data storage concepts for managing data effectively
Develop hands-on skills in storing and analysing data including query optimisation and performance tuning
Build and automate end-to-end ETL pipelines using Python, enabling efficient data extraction, transformation, and loading processes
Explore the role of data storage in modern data architectures, including cloud-native and hybrid solutions
