This course is part of the (SCTP) NUS AI Engineering Programme. Applicants are required to register for all SCTP courses.

Course Overview

This two-day intensive course provides participants with a practical, hands-on introduction to applied machine learning. Focusing on real-world datasets and use cases, participants will learn how to preprocess data, select appropriate models, train and evaluate machine learning algorithms. The course emphasises end-to end development, enabling participants to understand the full lifecycle of a machine learning project—from data preparation to model evaluation. By the end of the course, participants will be able to apply machine learning techniques to solve real-world problems.

Course Objectives

At the end of the course, participants will be able to:

Understand the end-to-end machine learning workflow and identify the key stages of a project.
Prepare and process datasets for modelling.
Select, train and evaluate machine learning models for classification, regression and predictive tasks.
Apply best practices in model validation and performance assessment to ensure reliable results.

The minimum entry requirement is a General Diploma.
