Programme Overview

This programme equips participants with the essential knowledge and practical expertise required for a Data Engineer role in modern data-driven environments. Through a structuredlearning pathway, participants gain strong foundations in Python programming and structured query language (SQL) before progressing into advanced data architecture, ingestion, transformation, storage and scalable data pipelines. The curriculum emphasises efficient data management and governance practices, and secure data handling at scale.

Participants develop hands-on capabilities by working with data sources, building automated data pipelines for machine learning workflows to support downstream initiatives. By theend of the programme, participants will be able to design, deploy, and maintain robust data engineering solutions aligned with enterprise standards.

A final capstone project brings together all the skills gained, enabling participants to showcase a production-ready, end-to-end data engineering solution that demonstrates readinessto contribute effectively in the field.

This SCTP consists of 11 modules:

Programme Objectives

By the end of this programme, participants will be able to:

  • Apply core Python programming concepts to automate data processing
  • Design, query, and manage relational databases using SQL
  • Implement data governance and quality practices to ensure compliance
  • Architect modern, scalable, and cloud-ready data solutions
  • Evaluate and apply modern data storage systems for performance and accessibility
  • Develop robust data ingestion and transformation workflows
  • Implement secure and scalable data ingestion and transformation pipelines
  • Build, deploy, and maintain automated pipelines that support downstream use cases
  • Build and deploy an end-to-end data engineering project demonstrating real-world problem-solving
