NUS Computing Students Put Singapore on the Map with Hult Prize Win
Two computing students from the National University of Singapore (NUS) have put Singapore on the global entrepreneurship map by winning the prestigious Hult Prize and its US$1 million seed funding. Tew Jing An, a Year 1 Computer Science student at the NUS School of Computing, and Chong Kai Jie, a Year 2 Computer Engineering student, are co-founders of Stick ’Em, an education technology startup that emerged victorious at the 2025 Hult Prize Global Finals in London.
Competing against over 15,000 startup ideas from universities worldwide, Stick ’Em was recognised for its mission to make Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) education accessible to underserved communities through affordable hands-on learning kits and a digital platform that supports educators in resource-limited classrooms.
The startup’s success highlights the calibre of students studying at NUS and their potential to make meaningful impact on a global stage.
Their achievement showcases the high-quality talent NUS continues to attract—students who bring fresh ideas and bold ambitions. The NUS School of Computing is proud to be home to such innovators and future leaders in technology.
Stick ’Em co-founder Jing An shared: “Winning the Hult Prize shows that Stick ’Em’s vision of making STEAM education accessible resonates far beyond our team. As a student, I am privileged to be part of this journey and to learn alongside a team that’s working to open doors for others like me.”
We congratulate Tew Jing An, Chong Kai Jie, and the entire Stick ’Em team on their outstanding accomplishment and look forward to their future successes.
