SoC Summer Research Internship 2024

NUS SoC Summer Research Internship (SRI) provides excellent opportunities for students to work with top faculties and researchers in the NUS School of Computing (SoC) to know and involve in cutting edge research projects in our research labs. The summer school also facilitates communication with our research students working on different topics and areas to know more about active areas of research in the school and build your network for successful research career through seminars and social events.

Notification of Acceptance: Last Week of February 2026

Priority will be given to students from underrepresented countries in our graduate programme.

Programme Details: 

  • Duration: 10 weeks, starting in May. Scholarship: SGD $500 per week, provided as an SRI scholarship for the full duration (10 weeks), totaling SGD $5000. 
  • Accommodation: As part of the SRI programme, securing housing is the student’s responsibility. Possible short-term options such as co-living spaces (e.g., Coliwoo, Casa Mia) and serviced apartments (e.g., Cove). Please note that Singapore law prohibits short-term stays (less than 3 months) in private residential properties such as condominiums, so ensure that any accommodation you select is legally permitted for your stay.

During the Programme:

  • Students may work in the shared common facilities at the school and are expected to meet their Advisor regularly to provide progress updates.
  • A common workshop for one day will be organised by SoC Graduate Office of the school, all interns are expected take this opportunity to attend and build network with current PhD students and faculty members (advisors and others). There will be research presentations by current PhD students and faculty members (advisors and others). During the workshop, our Graduate Office will share information about the graduate programmes, scholarships at the School of Computing (SoC) and admission procedures.
  • Social events will be included to facilitate networking and communication with current PhD students.

Before Arrival:

  • Allocation of advisors to the selected students will be finalised before arrival. We will try our best to match and allocate advisor based on the preferences stated in your application. However, it is not guaranteed! 
  • Students are expected to prepare a work plan for 10 weeks with guidance from our faculty Advisors before arrival.

On Completion:

  • The students should submit a short report to the advisor and the department at the end of the programme.
  • A certificate of completion will be provided by SoC Graduate Office.
