Young Faculty Research Visit (YFRV)
Young Faculty Research Visit (YFRV)
The National University of Singapore’s School of Computing (SoC) invites qualifying young faculty members from around the world to apply to our Young Faculty Research Visit (YFRV) scheme for 2025. The aim of the scheme is to promote research linkages between the young faculty members especially in developing countries with SoC faculty members.
This scheme will provide a one-off, all-inclusive amount of SGD$7000 to cover all expenses for the successful applicant’s visits.
To qualify from this scheme, the applicant must fulfill the following conditions:
- The applicant must be from a well-known university in a developing country.
- The applicant must have a PhD, and is currently no more than 5 years post-PhD.
- The applicant must have established communication with a SoC faculty member and together worked out a feasible research proposal.
- The successful candidate must stay at least one month in Singapore.
- It is preferred that one or more PhD students of the successful candidate can also come as interns during the visit so that together with the host, they can work on concrete implementation of the research.
Applicants must contact a full-time SoC faculty member either from its Department of Computer Science (https://www.comp.nus.edu.sg/cs/) or the Department of Information Systems and Analytics (https://www.comp.nus.edu.sg/disa/), and together work out a research proposal that both sides will sign off on.
Please complete this application form (https://www.comp.nus.edu.sg/wp-content/uploads/2024/12/yfrv-application-form.docx), and email it back to us at soc-yfrv@comp.nus.edu.sg.
The expected outcome of the visit shall be a research presentation by the successful candidate. Furthermore, it is expected that the visit will lead to continued collaboration leading to successful publication of results.
We do not have hard deadlines for this programme as we would like to keep it flexible but the visit should be concluded by the end of 2025. We have a limited budget for the programme and so it is likely to be on a first come, first serve basis – as long as the funding last. A committee will assess the strength of the proposal and decide on the award. The committee’s decision shall be final.
