Fighting Scams Together: First Malay Anti-Scam Workshop for Seniors a Hit!

As part of our School’s 50th Anniversary celebrations, we successfully conducted our first Anti-Scam and Digital Literacy Workshop for Seniors in Malay at the West Coast Community Centre (Green RN). The workshop was a resounding success, with active and meaningful contributions from our passionate student volunteers, making a real impact on the participants.

We were pleased to welcome Mr Desmond Lee, Minister for Education and Adviser for West Coast & Jurong West GRC, who joined us at the session. He engaged warmly with our senior participants, student volunteers, and faculty members, and expressed his appreciation for the School’s ongoing efforts to educate and empower seniors against the rising digital threats in today’s online landscape.

The interactive session covered practical skills to help seniors recognise and avoid online scams, equipping them to navigate the digital world more safely and confidently.

We’re excited to continue this important series with two upcoming workshops in Chinese and Tamil, further extending our outreach to serve diverse communities in the region.

A special thank you goes to our faculty members — Associate Professor Anand Bhojan, Associate Professor Khoo Siau Cheng,  Associate Professor Liang Zhenkai, Associate Professor Terence Sim, Senior Lecturer Prabhu Natarajan and Lecturer Prasanna Karthik— along with their students, for designing and preparing the engaging and effective materials that made this workshop both impactful and memorable.
