NUS Computing students finished second in close fight at the ICPC Asia Ho Chi Minh Regional Contest 2022

21 December 2022 — NUS Computing teams brought back great results from the International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) Asia Ho Chi Minh Regional Contest 2022 held from 8 to 9 December 2022.  

ICPC is the world’s oldest and most established algorithmic programming contest for university students. Teams of three university students race against the clock to solve as many of the algorithmic problems presented. Top-scoring teams from the ICPC regional contests will receive the opportunity to compete in the contest's annual global championship round—the ICPC World Finals.

Professor Tan Kian Lee, 57, will take over from Professor Mohan Kankanhalli as dean from January next year. Prof Tan was head of the NUS computer science department from 2014 to 2020. His research focuses on issues related to managing and analysing big data, or complex data sets. He was a recipient of the NUS Outstanding University Researcher Award in 1998 and a co-recipient of Singapore's President Science Award in 2011.

People keen to pursue a master's degree will pay 10 per cent less for certain courses at the National University of Singapore (NUS) from next year. This will apply to all courses whose fees are not already subsidised by the Government, numbering about 70, with an additional 5 per cent discount for NUS graduates, said the university on Tuesday (July 19).

Singapore law firm Rajah & Tann has collaborated with the National University of Singapore’s School of Computing (NUS Computing) to develop a seven-course technology program for lawyers.

In a statement, the firm said that the program is designed to equip lawyers with the skills to “harness disruptive technologies shaping the future of law,” and will include courses in design thinking, financial technology, application programming interface, robotic process automation, business analytics, and blockchain.
