NUS Computing Ascent Prize 2027

The NUS Computing Ascent Prize recognises outstanding early-career computing scholars from around the world whose work demonstrates originality, ambition and the potential for lasting impact. In its inaugural edition, awardess will be named NUS Computing Ascent Fellows and invited to Singapore for a curated programme of research exchange, faculty engagement and community building.
Indicative Timeline
15 April to 15 June 2026 – Nomination Opens for Applicants
15 June 2026 – Nomination Close
October 2026 – Awardee Announcement
January 2027 – Award giving Gala Dinner & Ascent Symposium in Singapore.

Purpose

The Prize positions NUS Computing as a global convenor of outstanding early-career talent in computing and related fields. It recognises scholars whose research combines novelty, depth and future promise, while creating meaningful connections between these rising researchers and NUS Computing’s vibrant research ecosystem.

Who It Is For

Eligible nominees include:

  • Senior PhD students expected to graduate in 2026 / 27
  • Postdoctoral researchers and research scientists within three years of their PhD award, excluding approved parental leave
  • Researchers from leading universities, research institutes and industrial research labs in computing and related fields

What Ascent Fellows Receive

Selected Fellows will receive:

  • An all-expenses-paid trip to Singapore, including return airfare and hotel accommodation
  • Formal recognition at the Ascent Gala and Award Ceremony
  • Feature profiles on NUS Computing’s website and social media platforms
  • A curated three-day programme of research talks, faculty meetings, lab visits and networking
  • Entry into a growing global network of NUS Computing Ascent Fellows

Evaluation Panel

Final selections will be made by a panel chaired by the Dean of NUS Computing and supported by distinguished international leaders from academia and research. The panel will assess nominees on research originality and vision, potential for real-world impact, and future leadership promise.
