8 April 2019 – Second year Business Analytics student Nicklaus Ong, with Business Administration students Lei Yuchong and Ryan Soh, won second place in the Eurasia Asset Management Challenge 2019. The competition was held from 27 January to 25 March, with the finals held on 25 March in the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), London, United Kingdom.

20 March 2019 – A team of three NUS Computing undergraduates won first place in the IBM prize category at HackNYU, New York University’s annual student-run hackathon. The competition was held from 15 to 17 February in New York, USA.
14 February 2019 – Yale-NUS College (Yale-NUS) and NUS Computing have jointly announced a new concurrent degree programme designed for liberal arts students planning to pursue careers in computing. The programme will shape the next generation of innovative and effective computing professionals who are able to tackle complex computing problems within a global context.
7 February 2019 – Computer Science PhD student Vanchinathan Venkatramani and undergraduate students Ranald Lam, Gan Wei Liang, Nguyen Tien Trung Kien, and Lim Hui Qi won four different awards at the inaugural NUS Student Life Awards 2019 on 26 January.
16 January 2019 – Third year Business Analytics student Teo Jin Ming won first place in the Techstars Global Startup Weekend and second place in the HP Dream Factory Innovation Hackathon, which were held from 16 to 18 November and 7 to 9 December last year.

17 December 2018 – NUS Computing teams performed well at the recent International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) Singapore regional contest held from 12 to 14 December. The home teams took up half of the top ten rankings and swept up seven of the 11 “First to Solve” prizes given out at the closing ceremony held at the NUS Kent Ridge campus.
5 December 2018 – Master of Science in Business Analytics (MSBA) students Aditya Gupta and Harshil Parashar won the first prize at the Maybank Kim Eng (MKE) Hackfest Finals on 8 November 2018.
23 November 2018 – NUS Computing students performed well at two 2018 International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) regional contests held this month. Team Pandamiao won first place in the Nakhon Pathom regional contest, while Team Send Bobs to Alice and Team 3Sophomores won third place in the Nakhon Pathom and Jakarta regional contests, respectively.
12 November 2018 – A team of five Master of Science in Business Analytics (MSBA) students and one undergraduate Business Analytics student won first place at the Chengdu 80 competition on 4 November in Chengdu, China.
5 November 2018 – NUS Computing PhD student Li Jianshu, together with his collaborators from NUS Engineering, won the Best Student Paper Award at the 2018 ACM Multimedia Conference (ACM MM) held in Seoul, Korea, from 22 to 26 October this year.
2 November 2018 – NUS Computing student Wang Shiyao and his teammates won the grand prize in the student category of the Singapore Airlines AppChallenge 2018 on 27 October.
Final-year Computer Science student Chia Wei Kang, together with NUS graduates Joel Foo and Johnervan Lee, co-founded a chatbot startup, Geboto, aimed at offering an integrated platform for boutique hotels to better connect with their customers digitally. Geboto was awarded a $10,000 Venture Ideation Award by NUS Enterprise to further develop their innovation.
4 October 2018 – Two NUS Computing students and two alumni received the NUS Outstanding Undergraduate Researcher Prize (OURP) for Academic Year 2017/2018 on 21 June 2018.
The new NUS Career+ app was launched to help NUS students in their career planning and to select relevant modules for the career they are interested in. About 2,800 NUS School of Computing undergraduates will be the first to use the app starting in September.
21 September 2018 – First year Computer Science student, Sakshi Pradyumn, was invited to a reception organised by the President of India, Mr Ram Nath Kovind, held at the President’s official residence in New Delhi, India on 15 August 2018.
18 September 2018 – Team Singapore, led by Dr Steven Halim from NUS School of Computing and Dr Daren Ler from the Ministry of Education, won one gold medal, two silver medals and one bronze medal at the 2018 International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI) held from 1 to 8 September 2018, Tsukuba, Japan.
14 September 2018 – NUS undergraduate, Ong Jing Yin (Computer Science; Year 3) was awarded the inaugural Smart Nation Scholarship and the award ceremony was held at Conrad Centennial Singapore, on 17 August 2018.
Nine recipients were awarded the inaugural Smart Nation Scholarship, aimed to develop and nurture a pool of next-generation leaders who will spearhead the national digital transformation. Ms Ong Jing Yin, Year Two Computer Science student, is one of two women awarded the scholarship. Year One Information Security student Alan Low is another recipient of the scholarship.
6 August 2018 – PhD student Abdelhak Bentaleb won first place in the Grand Challenge on Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP (DASH) at the IEEE International Conference on Multimedia and Expo (ICME) held from 23 to 27 July, at San Diego, California.
