DBS Bank, A*STAR’s Institute for Infocomm Research (I2R) and the National University of Singapore (NUS) have formed a three-year partnership whereby NUS students will have the opportunity to work on real banking challenges with data analytics experts from I2R and professionals at DBS at the DBS-I2R laboratory established in 2014.

30 October 2015 – A team of five NUS students won one of the top five prizes of US$20,000, as well as the top Blockchain sponsored prize of US$5,000 in Bitcoin, at the 2015 Money 20/20 Hackathon, in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, in late October.
22 October 2015 – NUS Computing students have once again swept the top positions at the Singapore Cyber Conquest, which was held on 6th October 2015, in conjunction with GovWare 2015. Bettering last year’s feat, this year, four NUS Computing teams competed against 31 other teams to clinch the top four positions at the annual cyber security contest organised by the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore (CSA).
21 October 2015 – Fourth year Electronic Commerce student Choo Yan Sheng and his teammates won first place at the Super Heroes vs Master Hackers hackathon in New York City, USA, early this month. Yan Sheng, who is in the NUS Overseas College (NOC) New York programme, teamed up with fellow NOC students from Business School, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Yale-NUS, as well as a Business School alumnus.
15 October 2015 – Information Systems third year student, Lin Baoyu, and fourth year students, Lee Yuan Guang, Loi Liang Yang and Jason Sim Meng Kiat, collectively known as Team EnthuSIAst, won the inaugural Singapore Airlines (SIA) App Challenge that was held between 3 to 10 October 2015.
A group of computer science and engineering students, led by Associate Professor Martin Henz from the Department of Computer Science and Dr Joerg Weigl, have converted a motorised sailing boat to one that uses only solar power and are exploring how to make it commercially viable.
24 August 2015 – First year Computer Science PhD student Vanchinathan Venkataramani and his NUS teammates won third prize in the Student Category at Hackathon@SG for their ‘smart walking stick’ idea. Ninety-four student teams and over 1,100 participants across all categories competed in the event, which was held at the end of July in Singapore.
20 August 2015 – The Bumblebee Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (BBAUV) team won second place as well as a cash prize of US$4,000 at the 18th Annual International RoboSub Competition that was held at the end of July in San Diego, California, USA.
11 August 2015 – Fourth year Computer Science PhD student Tan Shin Hwei has been selected as a recipient of the Google Anita Borg Memorial Scholarship: Asia Pacific for 2015.
22 July 2015 – An NUS Computing team supervised by Professor David Hsu and Associate Professor Lee Wee Sun excelled in a robotics challenge at the IEEE’s International Conference on Robotics and Automation (ICRA 2015), which was held in Seattle, Washington, USA, late May this year.
