18 June 2019 – Third year Business Analytics student Li Xuan Guang and his team emerged as overall winners of the AngelHack Challenge held at the AngelHack and Shanghai Makers Hackathon 2019 from 15 to 16 June in Shanghai, China.

The AngelHack Challenge was one of four competition challenges hosted in the hackathon. It is part of the AngelHack Global Hackathon Series is held around the world. Winners of the hackathon will be given the opportunity to enter a two-week pre-accelerator programme to refine their hackathon prototypes into a fully-fledged startup. Xuan Guang and his team were one of 20 teams to compete in the competition.

Xuan Guang, currently in Shanghai for an NUS Overseas Colleges programme with Fudan University, teamed up with four other local participants to develop an artificial intelligence (AI) mobile application to help users improve their public speaking and presentation skills. “Our product helps users either who have time constraints and unable to attend formal public speaking sessions or have no access to these coaching sessions,” said Xuan Guang.

“To use the app, users will record a video of their presentation. The app will analyse the video frame by frame to examine the user’s facial expression, body language, voice tonality and logic flow,” explained Xuan Guang. Through this app, the system will determine areas of improvement and it will subsequently suggest techniques and online courses for users to improve their presentation skills.
