Mr David Koh, Singapore’s First Commissioner of Cybersecurity, Joins NUS School of Computing as Professor of Practice
NUS School of Computing has appointed Mr David Koh as Professor of Practice, with effect from 1 August 2026.
Mr Koh was Singapore’s first Commissioner of Cybersecurity and founding Chief Executive of the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore, where he led the nation’s cybersecurity strategy, operations and international engagement over more than a decade. He most recently served as Chief (Digital Security & Technology) at the Ministry of Digital Development and Information, and as Chief Quantum Advisor, overseeing the development of Singapore’s national quantum strategy.
As Professor of Practice, Mr Koh will advise on strategic direction, curriculum development, and research priorities across the School’s work in artificial intelligence and cybersecurity, drawing on decades of leadership spanning government, industry and the international cybersecurity community.
Mr Koh holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Harvard University and a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from King’s College London. He was awarded the inaugural Billington CyberSecurity International Leadership Award in 2018, and has received Singapore’s Public Administration Medal in Gold (with Bar), Gold, and Silver (Military), among other national honours.
Mr Koh’s appointment brings a national policy perspective to the School’s ongoing work in AI and cybersecurity, connecting academic research with industry practice.
